North Providence

Elizabeth A. Bowley Coen was a resident of North Providence, Rhode Island. She was a history teacher at South Kingstown High School for 12 years until she became ill in 2004. Beth received an Associates Degree from Salve Regina University in Newport and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, summa Cum Laude from Rhode Island College. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Holocaust Museum in Providence. In memory of Beth and her struggle with this devastating illness, her family has begun "Beth's Quest", a nonprofit foundation that is dedicated to promoting Lyme disease awareness and prevention.

Coen took her own life January 8, 2006, after a ten year battle with Lyme disease.

* "We're carrying on Beth's work. It was her quest to bring Lyme disease awareness and prevention to the public." -Rod Bowley
